Battery Cabinets
Battery Cabinets for Data Centers
and Critical Power Applications
Battery cabinets are a critical component of any UPS or DC power installation. They house and protect the batteries that keep your facility running during a utility outage — and a poorly designed cabinet can lead to overheating, reduced battery life, difficult maintenance, and wasted floor space. C&C Power engineers battery cabinets specifically for data center and critical facility environments where thermal management, space efficiency, and serviceability are not optional.
Industry-Leading Thermal Management
Heat is the number one enemy of battery life. Elevated temperatures accelerate chemical degradation inside cells, shortening useful life and increasing the risk of thermal runaway. C&C Power battery cabinets are designed with optimized airflow paths that promote even cooling across all battery positions — not just the cells closest to ventilation openings. Our engineering team uses thermal modeling to validate cabinet designs before production, ensuring that temperature differentials between cells stay within the tight tolerances required for maximum battery life and reliability.
Compact Footprint, Maximum Capacity
Data center floor space is expensive. Our cabinet designs maximize battery capacity per square foot of floor space, allowing you to fit more runtime into less space. Cabinets are available in a range of sizes and configurations to accommodate VRLA, lithium-ion, and front-terminal batteries from all major manufacturers. Adjustable shelf positions and modular internal framing allow a single cabinet model to support multiple battery types and configurations, reducing the number of unique SKUs needed for multi-vendor environments.
Seismic-Rated Designs
For facilities in seismic zones or those requiring compliance with California's HCAI (formerly OSHPD) standards, C&C Power offers battery cabinets that are tested and certified to meet IBC seismic requirements. Our HCAI Special Seismic Certification Pre-Approval (OSP-0754) covers our UPS maintenance bypass cabinets, and our battery cabinet designs follow the same rigorous structural engineering practices — including finite element analysis and shake table testing — to ensure your batteries stay secure during a seismic event.
Integrated Safety Features
C&C Power battery cabinets are designed with multiple layers of protection for both personnel and equipment. Standard and optional safety features include 48V breakdown systems, externally accessible breakers that allow circuit isolation without opening the cabinet, polycarbonate terminal shields to protect technicians from accidental contact during servicing, padlock hasps for lockout/tagout compliance, and integrated smoke detectors for early fire detection.
For facilities requiring advanced battery health monitoring, every cabinet can be equipped with our patented Batt-Safe battery monitoring system for continuous float current, voltage and temperature monitoring. Combined with our thermal management design, this gives facility managers a layered safety approach — the cabinet minimizes thermal stress on batteries, while Batt-Safe provides early detection if a cell begins to degrade or go into thermal runaway.
All battery cabinets are manufactured at our Carol Stream, Illinois facility and are UL Listed. Standard models ship quickly from our stocked inventory; custom configurations are available with industry-leading lead times.
