C&C Power Holiday Toy Drive

Paul Blake · Nov 5, 2019 ·

Once again we are extremely honored to partner with Marillac St. Vincent’s House to kick off the holiday season and bring joy to children through the annual C&C Power Holiday Toy Drive. Last year our toy drive was a huge success with hundreds of toys donated to families in need. This year we hope to have an even greater impact.

Marillac St. Vincent

Marillac St. Vincent is a 100-year-old social service organization working to end the cycle of poverty and violence in Chicago. Their comprehensive, multigenerational social service programs help their clients deal with life’s challenges while giving them the necessary tools to improve their lives. They have hundreds of families who need your help in making their holiday wishes come true for their children.

C&C Power is committed to partnering with many local organizations throughout the year to give back to the community. We encourage our friends, family members, coworkers, and valued customers to drop off a toy that will bring joy to a young child in the Marillac program. Fill the holiday season with exhilaration as kids unwrap dolls, legos, board games, and other toys.

Help Us Make Wishes Come True

We are asking for new toys for children from birth to 12 years old. C&C Power will be collecting gifts for the Holiday Toy Drive through November 21, 2019, and helping to distribute them throughout December. Please drop off new toys to our location at 395 Mission Street, Carol Stream, Illinois 60188. We appreciate your willing spirit to give generously.

CoolCab Battery Cabinet Cooling Fan

Paul Blake · Oct 30, 2019 ·

C&C Power’s backup battery cabinets are designed with optimal convection cooling and an optional CoolCab battery cabinet cooling fan. Typical VRLA batteries want to be no warmer than 77°F. Optimizing battery temperatures maximizes battery life. The challenge was to reduce the internal battery cabinet temperature taking into consideration the cabinet internal battery layout and the environment of the battery cabinet.

Battery Convection Cooling
CoolCab Battery Cabinet Cooling Fan

Our engineering team at C&C Power has invested many months in developing and testing thermal temperatures of batteries while enclosed in battery cabinets. Small strategic changes in airflow have a big effect on a cabinet’s ability to transport heat up and out the rear of the cabinet. By running thermal tests on battery temperatures and airflow at an ambient temperature environment of 75°F, our engineers were able to design options to optimize convection cooling.

Their conclusions through Computational Fluid Dynamics have led them to develop our patented, tiered battery cabinets featuring industry-leading temperature attributes. This innovative convection cooling solution achieves temperature deltas as low as 1.9°F on float charge.

Battery Cabinet Cooling Fan

The standardized battery cooling solution also has an optional CoolCab battery cabinet cooling fan for tackling rooms with characteristics that inhibit natural convection cooling. Overly pressurized rooms or layouts that block rear venting may need this additional precaution.

Simulation tests on each cabinet have led us to pinpoint the ideal location for each CoolCab fan system. The result is that a battery cabinet with the fan option yields a remarkable less than .5°F battery to battery delta temperature and a 1.5°F battery to ambient while on float. The combination of the cabinet convection cooling solution and fan option will result in more optimal battery temperatures.

UBC75 Battery Cabinet

The UBC75 Battery Cabinet, pictured above in the thermal testing, is our most forward-thinking design to date. It is designed to be the most power-dense option on the market. All battery cabinet units shipping today have this optimal convection cooling solution. The optional fan can either be factory installed or retrofitted to existing cabinets. It is designed for easy snap-in installation on site.

Both solutions feature our front-access design using a variety of front terminal battery models, and both can be seismic certified whenever required. Contact our support and service technicians for questions on installation.

Automatic Maintenance Bypass System

Paul Blake · Oct 8, 2019 ·

Make the switch! BYPASS the lock and key with a streamlined approach. C&C Power is excited to announce its latest innovation in power solutions. The Automatic Maintenance Bypass system includes patent-pending technology to safely and securely operate your uninterrupted power supply. Control your maintenance bypass with an easy to use touchscreen interface. This technology sets it apart and eliminates the human variable of breaker locks and keys. It also ensures safe operation preventing damage to the equipment and serious injury to the operator.

This bypass breaker cabinet has an innovative design that eliminates user error through a microprocessor logic-driven controller. The added logic enhances the safety of the system while also ensuring the function of the critical load.

Existing bypass systems have printed procedures for the user to follow. Some are augmented by a keylock system. Even with the keylock system, it is still relying on the user to faithfully follow the procedure. A single mistake may cause the load to lose power or damage the equipment. The Automatic Maintenance Bypass System is designed to minimize the user error using a microcontroller to perform certain steps of the procedure and guide the user to carry out the other steps.

The user initiates the transition between Normal Operation and Maintenance Bypass by the input button of the user interface. The controller actuates the breaker motors to put the breaker in the proper state during the transition. When user actions are required (for example, to put the UPS online or in bypass), the controller will halt the transition and display the required user procedure in the message box. The user will then need to complete the step before resuming the procedure.

HTTP Connection

An optional HTTP connection is available for remote control and status monitoring. As a result, network communication will give the user the ability to view the bypass status for any location with an option to control the system remotely for added security. This feature gives the facilities manager piece of mind and immediate access.

Multiple Configurations

This ups maintenance bypass has a three breaker design with an optional load bank breaker. It is available for any C&C Power freestanding UPS maintenance bypass. Features include options for voltage, amperage, cabinet color, and AIC rating. Each cabinet is welded with heavy-gauge steel construction and has a hinged locking front door. It comes fully assembled and tested from the factory. C&C Power warehouses all maintenance bypass options, therefore, making our lead-time the quickest in the industry.

The Automatic Maintenance Bypass is an ideal solution across all industries. Safeguarding your critical data with a streamlined approach eliminates the human error found in manually switching breakers. Kirk Key Interlocking Bypass Security

Paul Blake · Aug 27, 2019 ·

Kirk Key interlocking switches are a means of safeguarding your equipment and critical data. You can use them to shut off power, control personnel access, and prevent a machine from starting when the guard is open.

To ensure safe and controlled access, a trapped key interlocking system like the Kirk Key is widely used with a UPS maintenance bypass. This method is an additional step in precautionary means for shifting utility power to backup battery power for maintenance and service. This feature eliminates the risk of accidentally dropping a data load.

A sequence of steps through transferring keys can either trap or release access to a locked or open circuit breaker. A key is used to isolate the power source with a bolt lock. Bolt interlocks have a variety of applications, from switchgear to machine guarding.

In access interlocking applications, a trapped key interlocking is used for preventing the paralleling of two energy sources, preventing particular operations until a breaker is locked open or closed, preventing disconnecting of breakers under load, and minimizing the possibility of a hazardous arc flash. These are often part of a larger trapped key interlock system.

A C&C Power maintenance bypass can easily be configured with a Kirk Key interlocking system. Options include either a basic Kirk Key system or an SKRU solenoid key release. Both come fully assembled and tested from the factory. If you have questions about which system is right for you, please contact our sales team for further information. Below is a visual walkthrough of a Kirk Key SKRU system. The goal of this video is to ensure you are interacting with the device confidently and correctly.

Battery Scam Orders

Paul Blake · Jul 5, 2019 ·

C&C Power and its customers have been approached by fraudulent buyers seeking to place battery orders. Our sales team has seen many battery scam orders throughout the years. Within the last few months, there has been an increase in these inquiries.

Generally speaking, these requests have come asking for random increments of batteries. Quote requests are all sent from unsuspecting fake email addresses that appear to resemble university or school addresses. These email addresses almost always end in edu.org.

These quotes for backup batteries can run from $20-60K. The fraudulent buyer will continue by processing the order with a credit card and give a shipping address for products. The buyer may also arrange for pickup. Once the shipment is confirmed, payment is retracted, and the buyer can no longer be reached. Freight is intercepted in the middle of transit. In some cases, police have located the stolen freight and returned it to the shipper or manufacturer.

After tracking shipments for some of these battery scam orders, it has led us to storage locations or holding areas in the middle of nowhere. In conclusion, shipping locations do not correlate with any university addresses or the contact information given by the buyer.

Despite efforts by the authorities, funds have not been able to be recovered. We urge you to please be cautious whenever approached by these types of buyers.
