Job Type: Full-time
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Purchasing Agent provides direction and expertise in the areas of supply chain and vendor management. This role is a pricing advocate and is responsible for ensuring that manufacturing has quality materials to make sub-assemblies, as well as finished goods to meet shop and customer order due dates.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Address Material Requirements Planning (MRP) action messages to ensure inventory levels are maintained and minimize stock outs.
- Process purchase requisitions based on safety stock, shop order, and/or customer order demand.
- Maintain purchase orders including adjusting dates per supplier commitments, closing orders, and resolving receipt and invoice issues.
- Negotiate request for quotes and standard pricing and ensure ERP system reflects updated pricing.
- Ensure rejected materials are properly dispositioned and accounted for.
- Help resolve supply chain challenges including material shortages and quality defects.
- Optimize inventory levels with safety stock/reorder points to ensure economical order quantities while reviewing purchase data.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- APICS certification a plus.
- 5+ years’ manufacturing experience.
- 5+ years Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Microsoft Productivity Tools, Excel, and databases.
- Ability to work as a team, under minimal supervision, and relate with all levels in the organization.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
