Data Center Gen-II Power Distribution Unit
The C&C Power Gen-II Power Distribution Unit (PDU) is a purpose-built data center power solution, engineered and manufactured in Carol Stream, Illinois. Available from 225–600kVA, the Gen-II PDU accepts 480 or 600VAC three-phase input and steps it down to the voltage your IT equipment requires — delivering clean, stable power through a dual electrostatic shielded transformer that isolates your critical loads from electrical noise and harmonics on the utility side.
Designed specifically for raised-floor data center environments, the Gen-II features compartmentalized output breakers for live additions without system shutdown, a fanless convection-cooled enclosure requiring just 6 inches of rear clearance, and a hinged front-access control panel that eliminates the need for side clearance during maintenance. A built-in 7" color touchscreen HMI provides real-time visibility into line, load, and subfeed power parameters, with revenue-grade metering and full Modbus TCP and SNMP integration for your building management system.
Input and Output Voltage Flexibility Accepts 480 or 600VAC three-phase input and delivers 208, 240, 415, or 480VAC output — making the Gen-II PDU compatible with virtually any North American or international data center power configuration. Dual-tapped output transformers are available for facilities that need multiple output voltages from a single unit.
Dual Electrostatic Shielded Transformer The double-shielded transformer attenuates both longitudinal and transverse electrical noise, protecting sensitive IT equipment from voltage transients, harmonics, and disturbances originating on the utility side. Standard copper winding with K-13 rating handles the non-linear loads typical of modern server and UPS equipment.
Compartmentalized Output Breakers A differentiating feature unique to the Gen-II design: individual output breakers are physically compartmentalized, allowing contractors to safely land a new feed without de-energizing the entire PDU. This eliminates planned downtime when adding capacity — a critical advantage in live data center environments.
Fanless Convection Cooling No moving parts means no fan failures and no maintenance cycles for cooling components. The Gen-II uses a passive convection design with upper and lower ventilation portals on all sides, requiring only 6 inches of rear clearance and 36 inches of front clearance — significantly less footprint than competing designs.
Hinged Control Panel — No Side Access Required The hinged control panel swings open to provide full access to the transformer compartment from the front. Unlike traditional PDU designs that require side clearance for maintenance access, the Gen-II can be installed flush against a wall or adjacent equipment, maximizing valuable data center floor space.
Isolated Low-Voltage Control Panel High-voltage components are physically segregated from the low-voltage control circuitry. Technicians can service most controls, including the HMI and alarm modules, without exposure to high-voltage parts and without requiring a system shutdown — reducing both risk and operational impact during maintenance.
Advanced Power Monitoring System Revenue-grade metering (IEC 61557-12 Class 0.5) tracks a comprehensive set of parameters across line, load, and each subfeed independently — including three-phase voltages and currents, active and apparent power, power factor, energy (kWh), demand (kW), total harmonic distortion (THD), and individual odd harmonics from the 3rd through 15th. All data is accessible via the front-panel 7" touchscreen, web browser, Modbus TCP, or SNMP.
Built-In Alarm Simulator The Gen-II includes a built-in commissioning tool that allows any alarm — from breaker trips to transformer temperature thresholds — to be simulated with a single button press. This enables rapid verification of Modbus/SNMP trap delivery to the building management system without altering actual alarm setpoints, significantly reducing commissioning time.
7" Color Touchscreen HMI The door-mounted 7" resistive touch display provides instant visibility into all system parameters from the front of the unit. Role-based access (user vs. admin) protects configuration settings. The screen auto-dims after inactivity and automatically wakes when any alarm becomes active, ensuring critical events are never missed.
Surge Protection 50–200kA surge protective device (SPD) on the transformer secondary guards downstream IT equipment and UPS systems from transient overvoltages — a common cause of premature equipment failure in data centers.
